About me
Jess Izen (she/her)
I’m a software engineer at AWS, currently seconded to the Rust Foundation as Engineer in Residence. My work focuses on supply chain security, Rust infrastructure, and community libraries. I’m also a member of the Rust Project and maintain networking and observability crates.
Before becoming a software engineer, I ran a bicycle messenger company in Richmond, VA. Helping build its food-delivery ordering platform got me hooked on software engineering. At AWS, I’ve worked on distributed systems for DDoS mitigation and bot control.
I care deeply about open source communities and about supporting maintainers in having the autonomy and financial support to sustain their work.
